Morganite was first discovered in 1902 in Madagascar, but it wasn't until the 1920s that it gained popularity. The gemstone was named after J.P. Morgan, a wealthy American banker and gem collector. Morganite is found in limited quantities, primarily in Afghanistan, Madagascar, and the United States.
