Installation

Overview

This section will give installation instructions for PC and Mac users as well as a new cloud based solution for LaTeX typesetting.

Why we need installation

LaTeX can be run from the command line with a text editor and properly installed programs, however, I recommend using a LaTeX environment. This will simplify matters and also provide a development environment with useful properties such as syntax highlighting, compiling macros, etc.

PC - MikTeX

  1. Go to MikTeX.org
  2. Download recommended installer.
  3. Install downloaded package.
  4. Ready to LaTeX!

MikTeX

Mac - MacTeX and TeXShop

  1. Go to http://www.tug.org/mactex/index.html
  2. On the frontpage is the download link for the latest package. Install this package in the normal manner.
  3. Go to http://pages.uoregon.edu/koch/texshop/
  4. Go to the obtaining section, download, and install
  5. Make sure that the Path setting under the "Engine" tab in TeXShop preferences is set to "usr/textbin," this should be done automatically. There is also a chance that your particular configuration requires a different configuration, however, this is system specific and cannot be covered here.
  6. Ready to LaTeX!

Cloud - ShareLaTeX

Index Of Ajji Jun 2026

Academic papers, ethnographic interviews, or multimedia resources.

In an age dominated by data—GDP, inflation rates, carbon footprints, and social media engagement metrics—we have quantitative indices for nearly every aspect of modern life. Yet, there remains no standardized measure for something arguably more vital to long-term human flourishing: intergenerational wisdom, moral clarity, and the quiet resilience of everyday life. This essay proposes the conceptual “Index of Ajji”—named for the archetypal grandmother in South Asian households—as a countermetric. The Index of Ajji is not a number but a narrative, not a ranking but a reminder. It asks: How well does a society care for its elderly, listen to its stories, and apply its accumulated, non-digital knowledge to solve contemporary problems? index of ajji
