The film follows the life of Surya (Suriya) and his father, Krishnan (also Suriya). The first half is a breezy, feel-good chronicle of upper-middle-class life in Chennai—college romance, rebellious love, and the emotional anchor of a supportive father. The second half takes a harrowing turn. After losing the love of his life (played by Sameera Reddy), Surya joins the army, battles drug addiction, and eventually confronts the sudden death of his father from a heart attack.
