At dawn, with the air smelling of wet pavement and promise, Eunise reversed the installation. She unwound the filaments, pressed the hexagonal core back into its cloth cradle, and folded the fabric into the suitcase. As she latched it closed, the sound of pages turning slowed to a whisper and then stopped. The atlases receded their new islands; the radio resumed ordinary broadcasts; the tram issued paper tickets again.
