Ian Simmons launched Kicking the Seat in 2009, one week after seeing Nora Ephron’s Julie & Julia. His wife proposed blogging as a healthier outlet for his anger than red-faced, twenty-minute tirades (Ian is no longer allowed to drive home from the movies).
The Kicking the Seat Podcast followed three years later and, despite its “undiscovered gem” status, Ian thoroughly enjoys hosting film critic discussions, creating themed shows, and interviewing such luminaries as Gaspar Noé, Rachel Brosnahan, Amy Seimetz, and Richard Dreyfuss.
Ian is a member of the Chicago Film Critics Association. He also has a family, a day job, and conflicted feelings about referring to himself in the third person.

Maze Runner: The Death Cure (2018) serves as the high-stakes finale to the dystopian trilogy directed by Wes Ball. Released on January 26, 2018, the film follows Thomas and the remaining Gladers as they attempt to break into the "Last City"—a WCKD-controlled labyrinth—to save their friends and find a definitive cure for the Flare virus.
After the dramatic rescue of Minho from WCKD’s clutches, Thomas and his group of escaped Gladers decide to break into the legendary "Last City" — a walled-off metropolis controlled by WCKD. Their goal: rescue Minho and expose WCKD’s immoral experiments on immune children. Unlike the first two films, The Death Cure trades mazes for an action-packed, emotional finale.
