The Shawshank Redemption is based on the novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption" by Stephen King. The movie follows the journey of two men, Andy Dufresne (played by Tim Robbins) and Red (played by Morgan Freeman), as they navigate life inside Shawshank State Penitentiary. Andy, a successful banker, is wrongly convicted of murdering his wife and her lover, while Red is a lifer who has lost hope.
