The story follows Mack Phillips (played by Sam Worthington), a father spiraling into a deep depression after the abduction and presumed death of his youngest daughter, Missy, during a family camping trip. Years later, Mack receives a mysterious note signed "Papa" (his wife’s nickname for God) inviting him back to the cabin where the tragedy occurred.
