If you are running a backup (NSP) of a game you own on a modded Switch (using Atmosphere or similar CFW), you cannot simply "update" via the Nintendo eShop without risking a ban. You must install the update manually.

If you enjoy the game, supporting the developers by purchasing the official cartridge or eShop version is the best way to ensure continued support and patch availability without risking your hardware.
