Samsara was shot on film. 4K scans exist, but many modern streaming versions (Netflix, Amazon) use excessive Digital Noise Reduction (DNR). The GECKOS 1080p release strikes a perfect balance. It retains the organic texture of the 70mm stock without introducing macroblocking. The x264 encode looks "filmic" rather than "digital."
