Risa Murakami is a Japanese artist and illustrator known for her vibrant, playful, and often surreal artworks. Born in 1974 in Tokyo, Japan, Murakami's creative journey began with a passion for manga and anime. Her unique style, which blends elements of pop art, surrealism, and kawaii (cute) culture, has captivated audiences worldwide.

By day, she was a forensic accountant, a job her college classmates found baffling. "You're too creative for numbers," they'd said. But Risa knew better. Numbers, she'd discovered, told the truest stories — the hidden transaction, the ghost payment, the decimal point deliberately misplaced. There was poetry in the fraud, rhythm in the reconciliation.

Her work has been featured in major international art events, such as Volta Basel 2024 in Switzerland.
